RIHA’s areas of impact are built around India’s most urgent mental health reform priorities, each grounded in systemic gaps that continue to undermine access, equity, and sustainability. These five domains are interconnected fields where scalable transformation is possible with the right knowledge, leadership, and delivery models. Our work here is anchored in the realities of the Indian context, designed for institutional relevance, and intended to build a mental health ecosystem that is preventive, participatory, and professionally governed.
Areas of Impact
Policy, Research, and Mental Health Advocacy
Sustainable mental health reform demands requires systemic change. RIHA generates applied research, designs action-oriented frameworks, and advocates for data-driven, rights-anchored mental health policies at local and national levels. We work with stakeholders across sectors to bring mental health into development planning, law, and governance which aims to strengthen India’s commitment to accountable, inclusive mental health reform.
Youth, Student & Community Mental Health
India is home to the largest population of adolescents and youth globally, yet the current mental health infrastructure fails to meet their evolving psychological needs. Competitive pressures, family expectations, isolation, and lack of culturally attuned support systems have created a crisis of vulnerability. Suicide remains the leading cause of death in the 15-29 age group, and early signs of distress are often ignored or misunderstood.
Structural injustices such as gender-based violence, caste discrimination, or substance misuse, have direct implications for mental health. RIHA addresses such social challenges by applying an evidence-based psychological lens to identify risk patterns, drive early prevention, and build socially responsive interventions.
Social Issues Through a Mental Health Lens
Workplace Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing
RIHA develops customized wellbeing frameworks that treat mental health as a structural function of organizational culture, leadership, and policy. Through diagnostics, curriculum design, and embedded training, we support startups, SMEs, public institutions, and nonprofit organizations in building internal capacities for psychological safety, burnout prevention, and emotional regulation
RIHA offers psychoeducational resources, reflective workshops, and self-guided tools that empower individuals to understand their mental health, make informed choices, and access support systems. This domain complements our systemic work by placing care, clarity, and agency directly in the hands of people especially those navigating life transitions, uncertainty, or distress.
